LEED Certification Levels
LEED for Building Design and Construction (BD+C) - the version most relevant to new commercial construction - awards points from 0 to 110 possible. Certification levels:

Credit Categories

- Indoor Environmental Quality (EQ): Up to 16 points for minimum air quality, enhanced ventilation, low-emitting materials, daylight, views, and acoustic performance.
- Innovation (IN): Up to 6 points for innovative strategies not covered by other credits, LEED Accredited Professionals on the project team.
- Regional Priority (RP): Up to 4 points for achieving credits prioritized in the project's geographic region.
Prerequisites
LEED prerequisites are requirements that must be met regardless of desired certification level - they cannot be skipped. Prerequisites include minimum energy efficiency performance (Energy Star or equivalent), fundamental commissioning, fundamental refrigerant management, minimum indoor air quality performance (ASHRAE 62.1 compliance), and construction waste management. A project that does not meet all prerequisites cannot be certified at any level, regardless of total points earned.
